Anonym 9 years agoRang my mobile number. Answered as was expecting a call from London. Woman with heavy accent asked me to confirm my name which I didnt do. She carried on talking, claiming to be doing a survey and wanting me to confirm the town I live in. She kept saying 'Correct?'. Smelled a rate, told her no thanks and hung up.
Just read in the news that the latest ransomware knows the victim's address. Bad idea to give any details to randoms who phone up. Could be that they were trying to confirm details for a scam. (2)

Prefer not to give any details 9 years agoPerson appeared to have name - I answered, and they had attempted to check personal address - but as they sounded unprofessional, I stated that if no organisational name were given, then no information would be provided to them, and I disconnected the call.
On trying to later call - (having screened own number) there appeared to be a silence.(1)
