Alan C 9 years agoIndian chap phoned me saying I had a problem with my computer . Wanted me to press Windows+ R .... I already had dealt with a number of calls like that but pretended to comply for about 10 mins , telling them even more confusing things .... which prompted them to consult with each other .and eventually called them \"criminals\" ..... loud \"click\" at other end as they hung up . Baz 9 years agoThird times in the past they have reached me. Always a foreign accent and claiming to have a very English name like Gail or Rosemary. Usual start to say they are from MS and there is a problem with my PC. They ask me to switch on and press certain keys. I now keep them waiting by saying I have a very slow PC and it takes several minutes to boot up. I then go to kitchen and make a cup of coffee. I keep the phone and when they ask if it is powered up yet, I just say ‘nearly’. After keeping them for many minutes I agree that the PC is up and running and then agree to do what they ask. I don’t do what they ask but say that my PC has crashed. This provoked some interesting backroom inaudible conversations. They asked me to boot up again and I say I will but usually get on with something I want to do, write emails or read the paper or just relax with my coffee.
I don’t have a problem with time as I am retired so eventually they drop the line.
They phoned again this morning and after the usual chat that there was a problem with my PC, I asked them to tell me what my URL was and which operating system I was using. I said that if they knew there was a problem, they would know this. A bit of confused chit chat in background and the reply was ‘sorry, we can’t tell you that as it would breach data protection’. So I said ‘Well, you are saying that you are from Microsoft and my operating system is Apple. Soon gets rid of them.

Simon Davies 9 years agothey claim you are receiving hundreds of malware and threats on your home PC. they will ask you to run a test that they claim will list all of these threats.
According to the company they have a list of your threats that match the id of your PC, COMPLETE NONSENSE.
do not give them any info, just hang up. or string them along for a bit.
I have received probably 10 such calls over several months and they still do not get the message. Persistent little pests.
