Alex Day 4 years agoBe careful. family member gave them remote access, they showed the windows event viewer (every computer will show some sort of error here) then they scare you into paying for well overpriced protection, Norton, Kaspersky, Mcafee etc. when in reality it is worth very little. They will then fiddle around and possibly do other things and then run a catch file that appears to protect you from hackers when in reality it just deletes the event viewer. they will then charge an extortionate amount and call and harass using the same tactics to get you to part with more money. i dont know how they sleep at night conning people like this.(1)

Contacted me saying he was from Norton and charged for fixing my computer that he said was at risk and they have detected malware software, told me my email account had been hacked and that I need to pay £69.99 (on top of the previous payment 2 months ago of £109.99!).
Reported to Norton, contacted my bank and will inform others (0)

Lyuda 5 years agoI called a phone no that appeared online for AVG anti-virus 08000567140 and spoke to somebody with a strong non-English accent. I had a problem with AVG and wanted to report it. They asked my landline phone and somebody else called my mobile in a couple of minutes and scanned my computer leaving the above no. For me to call them back. Now I regret talking to them because I understood I have talked to a spam.(0)

jack jones 6 years agoClaiming to be antivirus technicians. When challenged on this and what their website is they hang up. They took money from a friends account. They seem to know when someone else\'s mcafee is up for renewal. They are relentless on the phone trying to get you to part with your money. genuine Mcafee engineers would never stoop this low. you will have to cancel your card details to stop them taking money out of your account. Bank were very good in cancelling transaction and making a charge back. Beware of these scammers(0)

Sara 7 years agoCalled them as I google said its mcafee and i asked for refund but he said until i dont pay extra £139.99 plus vat. I am not getting my £89.99 back. Am worried now he took my personal details n did log into my laptop from his end.
I wish i read these comments before i called them. He said he is called john. 001257894758 was number he was calling me back for payment. He called me 10x. The language he was using was not what customers service advisers use. (0)

R kenny 8 years agoCalled them as Google said it was mcafee and I was trying to get refund after they took renewal fee. Technician called back and said I had been hacked but mcafee would show me by remote access. Had my card number but realised it was scam and cancelled my card immediately but worried about what info they got from my hotmail account while scanning laptop.
